The Asian Pacific Phycological Association

About

The Asian Pacific Phycological Association (APPA) was formed to advance phycology in the Asian Pacific region, to serve as the venue for the exchange of information related to phycology, and to promote international cooperation among phycologists and phycological societies in the Asia-Pacific region.

The APPA is governed by a Council consisting of about 20 members representing the Asian Pacific countries and regions, including elected Presidents (or designated representatives) of national phycological societies in the region. The President and Vice President are elected by this council from among their members, and the Secretary and the Treasurer are appointed by the President.

The Advisory Committee consists of past Presidents of the Association and Honorary Members, and is available to the Council for consultation.

The APPA co-operates with other national and international phycological organizations to forward these aims. Our conference, the Asian Pacific Phycological Forum (APPF), is held every three years and attracts eminent researchers from the Asian Pacific region and beyond.

All individuals who attend the Asian Pacific Phycological Forum are automatically Members of the APPA for a period of six years after conference registration.

Organisations that financially support the APPF are Corporate Members of the APPA for the six years following the Conference.

Honorary Members are individuals who have given outstanding service to the Association, and must be nominated by the Council of the Association. Honorary Memberships are lifelong.

Membership fees are included in the Registration Fee of the APPF, and no further payment is required from members.
